Across the River
The Yalu river, which separates China and North Korea, is of
extraordinary significance in the history of new Republic of
China. China and North Korea closely related as lips and
teeth. And the two countries are joined by common mountains
and rivers. The people of two countries have a close
relationship and profound friendship.
I was born here, grown here and worked here. In my
childhood, the children of the two countries were skating
together on the river, and the vehicles ran along the
riverevery winter. The people of the two countries are
fishing together on the river in every summer.
The 80S of last century, the two countries chose different
paths of development, and China became more open and
prosperous, while north Korea closed down. The Yalu river
has also undergone profound changes without realizing. The
border control has been strengthened and the Yalu river has
been set up with barbed wire, and people can no longer be
close to it.
The picturesque scenery along the Yalu river has not changed
with the passing of time. North Korea, across the river, has
changed very little over the past few decades, and people
are working hard every day at sunrise. As a photographer, I
often wander along the Yalu river, sometimes seeing my
childhood playmates, like I saw myself thirty years ago.
The difference betweenman’s fate is sometimes due to the two
sides of a river? |
