    筒子楼是中国上个世纪五十年代开展大规模经济建设初期时代的产物。在中国人民艰苦奋斗的年代里，许多城市里都建有这种简易筒子楼房，每层楼中间是长长的通道，两旁是没有厨房和卫生间的狭小住室。随着时代的前进，筒子楼已经越来越少，取而代之是越来越多的高楼大厦。
    The tube-shaped apartments are the products of the 1950s when China's large-scale economic development began. In those hard-struggling years, these kind of simple apartments were built in many Chinese cities. On each floor of the apartments, there is a long corridor in the middle; on both sides, there are small rooms that have no kitchen and toilet. With the development of Chinese cities, the tube-shaped apartments are becoming less and less, and more skyscrapers are replacing them.
